Meatopia London 2017-2019

Meatopia is a live-fire food & drink festival held each year at the magnificent Tobacco Dock’s in East London. The 3-day event showcases ethically sourced, sustainable meat and fish, cooked by some of the worlds top chefs over live-fire wood and charcoal.

I have been incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to cook at Meatopia Festival for the last 3 years, humbled to be amongst a stellar line up of some of the top live-fire chefs from around the world.

At the 2017 festival I curated and delivered a project for the Movember Foundation where I called upon some of my high profile international chef friends to donate their time and cook over the weekend to raise funds for the charity. Cooking alongside these chefs over the weekend we pumped out charcoal steaks and lamb, drank 1000 beers raised a little over £10,000 for Movember & men’s health.

2018 I cooked along side Franco Fubini, CEO & Founder of Natoora where we served one of the highlight dishes of the weekend, Bulls Heart tomato sandwich with beef crackling and fennel pollen.

But it was the 2019 event that was extra special for me as it was the first time I was representing my own restaurant; Pilgrim. On the menu was a rare-breed pork rib-eye, with guindilla pepper salsa. We were stunned at the interest in Pilgrim and had a line up at our barbecue from the moment the gates opened until we sold out a few hours later.
