Million Pound Menu - Pilgrim
We took a Spanish dining concept from a series of sold-out pop-up events in East London to winning the Netflix show Million Pound Menu, securing investment to open our first site in the heart of Liverpool and being awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand by the Michelin Guide 2020 & 2021.
The Concept
Since the 9th century, Catholics and non-Catholics have walked the Camino as a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in northwestern Spain to visit the tomb of St. James.
The Pilgrimage has multiple established starting points throughout France, Spain and Portugal, with the most popular route starting in St. Jean Pied de Port in the French Pyrenees.
Those who make this journey are known as a “Peregrino” or, in English, Pilgrim.
As Pilgrims seek fuel along their journey, the distinct regions in Spain along the Camino all take their turn overwhelming travellers with vibrant and diverse flavours, textures and produce. Each village takes pride in feeding and inspiring Pilgrims onwards.
Pilgrim brings this experience to life by creating menus that draw inspiration and follow a specific route of the Camino de Santiago.
There are 12 established and well-travelled routes of the Camino. These routes are Pilgrim Restaurant's inspiration.
